Darth Vador, lightsaber, Jedi's, and more!!!!

Objective: Design IT Studios Interns help with the Membership Preview for Star Wars by guiding kids and parents towards building lightsabers.

Time: June 8, 2006, 6pm-8pm

Materials: LED lights, straw, glue stick, Popsicle stick, CR2032 battery, and electrical tape.

Activity: Star Wars finally opened at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Design IT Studios coaches and interns had a small play shop in Hands on Science building lightsabers. Materials were laid out for the members with six interns nervously waiting for the doors to open up to Hands on Science. The room was darken for special effects and the only light sources came form lamps. As the doors opens, interns and coaches were packed with young Jedi's, storm troopers, and Darth Vader's all accompanied by their parents ready to see what the activity was for the night. By the hour, the museum was filled with lightsabers and the sound of whoosh. In the picture above, young Star Wars fans showing off their finish lightsaber. The most exciting part of the night had to go towards the interns interacting with children, ages 5-13 years old. It was fairly busy for the 2 hours that we were on the floor but each intern kept a cool head and put many smiles on the children and parents face.
